Born in the USA in 1967, All-Clad was founded by brilliant metallurgist John Ulam, who patented a number of metal bonding processes, including those for making coins for the US Mint, and in 1971, for making professional-quality bonded cookware for working chefs and avid home cooks. The brand flourished as early adopters realized the cookware’s extraordinary properties and exemplary cooking performance. Today, All-Clad bonded cookware is still hand crafted in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania—with American-made steel—following the same solid methods they’ve used for decades.
